1. Overview ChurnSpotter ("the App") is built by [ChurnSpotter] and is available on the Shopify App Store. This policy explains what data the App collects, how it is used, and how long it is retained.


2. Data collected from merchants When a merchant installs the App, Shopify provides the store domain and an access token to authenticate API requests. This data is stored in a secure database and is used solely to operate the App. It is deleted when the merchant uninstalls the App.


3. Data collected from storefront visitors The App injects a lightweight script into the merchant's online store. That script collects:

  • An anonymous session identifier — a random ID generated in the visitor's browser. It is stored in sessionStorage and is never shared with third parties. It expires automatically when the browser tab is closed.

  • Page category — whether the visitor viewed a product page, cart, or checkout. No product names, prices, or personal details are recorded.

  • Nudge interaction — whether a notification was displayed during the session.


No names, email addresses, IP addresses, or cookies are collected. All session data is automatically deleted within 20 seconds of a visitor becoming idle. Aggregate nudge counters are deleted within 25 hours.


4. How data is used Collected data is used exclusively to calculate a real-time churn risk score and display aggregate statistics on the merchant's dashboard. It is never sold, shared, or used for advertising.


5. Data retention and deletion

  • Visitor session data: deleted automatically after 20 seconds of inactivity

  • Nudge performance counters: deleted automatically after 25 hours

  • Merchant configuration and access token: deleted immediately upon app uninstall


6. GDPR and merchant responsibilities Merchants are responsible for disclosing the use of this App in their own storefront privacy policy. If a customer submits a data access or deletion request, there is no personally identifiable data held by ChurnSpotter to retrieve or delete.
